Selling your luxury clothes on consignment: the complete seller's guide

Do you have Stone Island, Moncler, Dior or C.P. Company pieces sleeping in your wardrobe? Consignment is the most profitable way to give them a second life, provided you understand how it works. Here is the complete guide, from drop-off to payment.

Consignment, cash buyback or Vinted: which to choose?

  • Consignment: the store sells on your behalf and takes a commission. You earn more than with a cash buyback (often 60 to 75 % of the final price), without handling listings, buyers or shipping.
  • Immediate buyback: instant payment, but a lower price, because the store takes on all the resale risk.
  • Selling it yourself (Vinted, Leboncoin): potentially the best price, but photos, messages, negotiations, disputes, accusations of counterfeiting… Count several hours per piece.

For luxury and premium streetwear pieces, consignment with authentication is the best balance of price and peace of mind: the store's expertise reassures the buyer and justifies a better selling price.

Which pieces are accepted?

At Prego, we select:

  • Premium and luxury labels: Stone Island, C.P. Company, Moncler, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Golden Goose, AMI Paris, Nike collaborations…
  • Pieces in excellent condition: clean, with no holes, stains, odours or marked wear.
  • Genuine pieces: every item goes through our physical authentication check before acceptance. That is what protects seller and buyer alike.

The 5 steps of consigning at Prego

  1. Bring your pieces to the store (5 bis rue de Mirepoix, Toulouse, Tuesday to Saturday, 11:30–19:00) or contact us to arrange shipping.
  2. Expert authentication: we check every piece (labels, Certilogo, stitching, materials).
  3. Price proposal: we set the selling price together, in line with the current market.
  4. Listing: professional photo shoot, publication on pregoshop.fr and display in store.
  5. Payment: you are paid within 14 days of the sale.

How is the selling price set?

The price depends on four factors: the brand and model (an iconic piece sells for more), the condition, the rarity (collaborations, limited editions) and the second-hand market prices at the time of drop-off. A fair price sells fast: overpricing a piece leaves it sitting.

FAQ

What commission does a luxury consignment store take?

How long does it take to sell?

Iconic, well-priced pieces go within a few days to a few weeks. More niche pieces can take one to three months.

What happens if my piece does not sell?

After the agreed period, you take your piece back or we adjust the price together. You never lose your item.
